Now for something glam!

My friend Lisa is a HUGE Adam Lambert fan. Which totally cracks me up. When my daughter saw this, she said "THAT is for Miss Lisa? Wow! That doesn't seem like her at all!" Which just goes to show that my nature loving, straightforward, sensible, station wagon driving friend has a dark side! lol

She went to the recent AI concert and snapped these photos and they totally inspired me! I don't get to play with concert pics, so I totally jumped on this and made her a mini album out of altered CDs and lots of bling! It was so much fun to make and it went together so fast! (Of course, I love any excuse to throw alcohol inks on things and the glimmer mist on mulberry shines soo cool...love my black gold!)

Tattered Angels Rock!

I had the BEST time on Saturday at Adventures in Stamping. Tattered Angels were there and I was so looking forward to their class, I registered like 3 months ago! They did not disappoint! The make and takes in their booth were phenomenal (where I hung out for like an hour lol) and the class was awesome! I highly recommend taking them if you get a chance! Wendy and Allison did a great job!

We put together their kits. I did the Nature kit and it is soo awesome! I am totally dying to get my hands on my next one! And for those of you local and crop with thescrapqueen, well May 2nd is Glimmer Mist day and I'll be sharing with some of the cool stuff I learned!

And, I have to say, I was so impressed by the products. Okay, I LOVE glimmer mist, I have been using that for awhile now, but I hadn't seen the chipboard or glimmer glass. Wow, they are SO gorgeous! I will be getting some more for sure! I was impressed by the kit books too, the one I did had 24 PAGES plus the covers! And the tattered traveler kit book has all these great fold outs. And you'll definitely be seeing more glimmer mist on my art, I picked up 9 more bottles this weekend!

Wedding Purse and Guest Book - Altered Cloud 9 Chipboard Book Set

I got this and was playing around with it, I wanted to do something different and couldn't figure out what. I found my inspiration from SEI. These papers are SO gorgeous and elegant, yet they are a bit funky (which I love). I also thought, who would give a mini album in a little box, how can we use them both as seperate entities but that still go together? I love making purses, but who the heck uses a small purse? And would need a book as well?

Elegant papers....small purses....hmmm, maybe a bride? Not just any bride, of course, it would have to be someone a bit nontraditional, but how fun would this be for someone with a sense of kitsch?

So, I made up a cute little purse for her to carry and a matching guest book.

As I said, papers are SEI, for the purse though, I just made it to match using Ranger dabbers in silver (dab indeed, don't paint and you'll get the great texture) and pool and then, I covered the front with reinforcements after first painting them silver as well. Added some random sparkles and it was done.

Papers, stickers and die cuts in the book are all SEI.

Busy Bee

I cannot believe how much papercrafting I have gotten done the last couple days. Apparently my muse is in overdrive!

I have been doing some of the kit swaps over at my board, ScrapNMoms. Last month we had a bee one. Okay, if you know me, you know we are a Bee family. So, I had to have the bees.

What to do with the kit though? Hmmmmm..... Well, my friend Sarah said something about it being perfect for a mini album. I have been itching to make another acrylic album so I picked up a cute little tag one at Catan's and yep, it WAS perfect! And so fun!




Then, I had a few leftovers, so I used them to do the card challenge over at Simply Scrapping.

Iron Chef Night

For those that say homeschooled kids don't get enough socialization, I have to laugh! We make soo many opportunities for them to get together and homeschooling in this area is a COMMUNITY. Last night, our co op sponsored an Iron Chef night event. 4 families competed against each other. They had 1 hour to create a dessert and an appetizer using the secret ingredient (we sent it out to them a week in advance, it was cheese).

It was SUCH a fun night! The food was spectacular and we truly enjoyed ourselves. Livy and I were judges. It was so cute how seriously she took her 'job'! And great seeing how the families all worked together.





The grand prize was a $25 grocery store gift card, my girls would have been more interested in second which was an Auntie Anne's pretzle making kit. All families also received a recipe album for participating (made by me of course!)








I also made these cute name tags for the emcees and judges

More Motivation!

My friend Tracey (remember that awesome soot stamped card?!) and some other ladies from ScrapNMoms (well, that's how I know them anyways) started a new blog this last week and kicked it off with awesome challenges!

I did some playing....actually that was what the file folder album was about and the altered notebook truth be told. So, since I was in a double dipping sort of mood (I think the PC word is multitasking, yeah?) I did Lesley's 3 from one challenge to get myself moving on a mini scrapbook that I am showing for a class I may be teaching at the parks in the fall

Then, I am sooo ready for fall, so used the nest stamp to do a card that was nice and bright!


And last, but not least, I do a lot of nature stuff and we are outdoors at the parks often also, so I can always use a journaling box and how awesome is the key lime glimmer mist?! LOVE it! Just got it and it is SUCH a phenomenal colour!

Been Scrapping!

I know, I haven't updated in awhile! February was CRAZILY INSANE! The girls got sick, gave it to me, then just when I was getting better, they got it again! Then, we have birthdays....my sister, Trin and my brother are all within 3 weeks of each other.

So, sick and busy! What a combination!

So, slowly I am catching up!

TO get me motivated, I got a great package of stuff to play with from the fabulous owner of Simply Scrapping....it's fun being on a design team!

I used papers and stickers from 3BugsinaRug to make this cute altered file folder album




Then, I used the scraps to make this cute altered mini composition book!

Wow! A New Year!

Where did the time go? I meant to add so many things last month and time just got away from me!

So, let me take a moment and wish you all a VERY happy new year! May 2009 be filled with lots of magical memories and many happy surprises!

Now, let me get caught up a bit....here's what I worked on last month!

First off, these were gifts that I made for family and friends. I used a paper pack (that I cannot remember who makes) that I got with my gift certificate I won from Crazy for Scrapbooks.
They are altered CD cases and I made CDs of my favourite Christmas songs long with the words to them.



They were a big hit and I thought I wish I would have thought of it sooner as it would have made an adorable secret sister gift....team it up with some hot cocoa and little candles to make a caroling night kit!


This I made for my mom....it uses the CTMH Silhouette papers and a 3x3 album. It has pictures of my girls and nephew on the front pages, then a little monthly calendar in the rest of the pages, plus a tag for each month to pull out for special days.



My sister got an accordion album commemorating my nephew's first Christmas. I LOVE how this turned out! I used a CTMH 9x9 accordion album and the Aspen papers!





The last picture is a toilet paper tube tag holder....LOVE these! So cute and doesn't everyone have accesiblility to these? Just flatten it out and cover with paper!

Buckeyes! I make them every year, it is the only thing Stan requests and seriously, can you call yourself an Ohioan if you don't make a good buckeye?

And last but not least, the album I made for my dad....this is an ongoing project, as he gives me more photos I'll keep adding them, but for now, this is what he got....
THis is the only picture of my grandfather. It's my parents wedding day-kinda wierd to scrap it when they have been divorced 26 years, BUT wanted to preserve Grandpa's picture. I love how perfect the CTMH Silhouette papers were for this, then I sprayed it with a bit of black gold glimmer mist and IRL it is even more gorgeous!


Also, while I was at Crazy for Scrapbooks I found Black River Pirates paper....dad taught/coached there 31 years, I graduated from there, um awhile back so it was perfect for the teaching and coaching pics he gave me!
